Creative Desk Crafts

Craft Flower Project

Is your desk bland and boring? Need something colorful or inspiring to look at during your day? If you find that others in the office are talking about your boring workspace, here are a few easy crafts to create for your desk.

Cord Covers

Are your exposed electrical cords a distraction from everything else on your desk? If so, take into consideration this technique to beautify your exposed cords.

What You’ll Need:

  • Cord
  • Embroidery floss for smaller cords, yarn for larger cords
  • Scissors

Instructions:

  1. Choose four colors of yarn or embroidery floss. Cut each color about four times the length of your cord.
  2. Grab a piece of yarn or embroidery floss and tie it to one end of your cord. Hold down the tied off section and start wrapping.
  3. Continue tying each piece of yarn or embroidery floss. If you run out, you can simply tie on another set.
  4. If you are using yarn, simply wrap the yarn around itself when you reach the end. If you are using embroidery floss, tie a knot at the end and braid the remaining floss.

Acrylic Letter Tray

Do you have a clear letter tray? If so, you can add a bit of personality to it by following the instructions below.

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 clear letter tray
  • Pink cardstock in different colors
  • White vinyl labels
  • Vinyl cutter
  • Craft glue
  • Sponge brush
  • Scissors
  • Pencils
  • Ruler

Instructions:

  1. Grab one piece of cardstock and use a pencil to trace around the front of the letter tray. Cut out the template using scissors.
  2. Use your freshly cut template to cut out cardstock for the left and right sides of the same letter tray.
  3. If you have other letter trays, repeat steps 1 & 2 using a different color cardstock.
  4. Grab a ruler to get the width of the front of the letter tray. Write down the dimension so you can appropriately determine how much room you’ll need for the vinyl lettering.
  5. Prepare your vinyl labels with the message you want it to display, then place on your cutting machine to fit the sides of the letter tray.
  6. Check to see if your vinyl labels will fit on each letter tray. Press on the transfer tape to apply the lettering to the tray.
  7. Check your cardstock for extra trimming. Once it’s the appropriate size, apply a small amount of craft glue to the paper behind the vinyl label. Gently press to fit inside the letter tray.

Tea Planters

Do you or any of your coworkers love drinking tea? If you don’t have the space for a large office plant, you can use the craft idea below to host small succulents right on your desktop.

What You’ll Need:

  • Old tea tin cans or a teacup
  • Pebbles
  • 1 Succulent

Instructions:

  1. Place a handful of pebbles inside the empty tin or teacup.
  2. Add in the succulent and break up the soil.
  3. Place another handful of pebbles on top for decoration.
